The person who told you that the codes are tied to a specific account is not being completely truthful. Often times, the ebay coupon codes work on accounts that are not linked with it. Of course, you cannot guarantee they will work, but for the extra minute it takes to try them, you could be saving yourself quite a bit of cash.
