Tacky to include a coupon with a restaurant gift card?
By Coupon ClipperThe situation is this – I recently went on a vacation with a friend and their family. My friend’s Dad covered a lot of my expenses (as he did for his family members), as well as treating us to many extra activities.
Quite frankly, if it were not for his generosity, there is no way I could have afforded to go on this expensive trip. I have already sent a very nice thank you card. Father’s Day is coming up and I want to send him a nice picture of my friend and I, a couple of dvd’s (he is a movie buff) and I have just purchased a restaurant gift card – I just saw a coupon for the same restaurant in today’s paper. Should I include it in the card?
The gentleman in question is very well off financially, and my funds are limited to the above, but I do want to again express my thanks in an appropriate and classy manner – I do not think it is all inappropriate to send him something for Father’s day as he and his wife refer to me as their “adopted daughter”.

go a head and send him that coupon, add a little note to it saying, hey if this helps have fun with it.

Since you are that close to them, I think it’s okay to include the coupon. Everyone (wealthy or not) is wise to save a penny when possible!
Last Christmas, a client with whom I work very closely wanted to send me and my husband to a very expensive downtown New Year’s Eve party as a gift. The tickets were $175 each. I KNOW this client so well and always try to save him money through my job. So, I knew he would be happy to learn of a discount code (electronic coupon) I’d found which would save him $200.
He was happy and hubby and I had the BEST time ever! Like you, we sent photos in our thank you note.
You were brought up right

I love you because you are practical. Give what you can and remember that your friend’s dad did not become well off by spending recklessly. Include the coupon.

Doesn’t he get the paper too?
Don’t give him a coupon!
NO NO NO! You’ll embarrass him.
I gave you a star for the question though.
