Does anyone know a website that really gives you good deals on travel, including air and hotel?

By Coupon Clipper

I am tired of going to these supposed great deal sites and they are really rip offs.

C’mon, how’s a consumer gonna know if he got a great deal???

You just gotta shop around and go with what you feel. Yeah, it takes time to search all the sites, but otherwise you’ll never know..

I’ve used Orbitz, Travelocity, Continental, sidestep, all of them. Matter of fact, I got the best deal to Manila last time on Continental. Who woulda thought that….

Go to a travel agent instead of the net. All of those “deal” sites are for cheap asses looking to get by on the bare minimum. In this case you’re going to find out that you get what you pay for.

Just put some effort into it, go to all of them and see where you get the best deal, and sometimes you can go to the airport/hotel website and the deal will be better.

I am right now trying to research a site that is offering amazing deals I found them through ebay called http://www.gugshopvacations.com. I have posted a question on them in this yahoo answers thing to see if anyone else has done business with them.

They offer package deals that are customizeable supposedly….air, hotel, car rental – flexible dates….it almost sounds to good to be true. Anyway their deal blows away anything I have found….good luck.

So far I have been shopping for tickets the ‘old fashioned’ way and have found that http://www.cheaptickets.com beats everyone else….maybe it depends on which airlines each site is associated with.

http://farechase.yahoo.com/ is not bad for searching airlines,
as it checks a number of the sites others have listed above.

But if you’re looking for a complete package air/hotel, I agree with going to a travel agent, they may not squeeze the last 10.00 of savings you might get booking the cheapest air you can find and then staying at the cheapest hotel, but then, you won’t be staying at the cheapest hotel either.

The above answerer, mentioning gugshopvacations — well, that site is a rip off.

Try the airlines websites. Many people dont know but you can book vacation packages including rental cars with the airlines and get better deals directly with the airline.

The travel sites are really traps. Ive always gotten better deals directly with the airline itself rather than these stupid sites. I use them to price compare, but thats it.

More links I’m afraid from the page below.

You can use Orbitz, Travelocity, Continental, Sidestep Cheap Tickets, etc. But a lot of times a good travel agent can get you a better price and save you a lot of time. A lot of websites don’t give you a lot of variety, such as all available flight times or hotels. If you havent traveled to that destination before, then I would definitely use a travel agent who has good experience.
I was a travel agent before, and use one now as I don’t have a whole lot of time to spend searching on the web; and I have traveled a lot domesticly and abroad. Its too time consuming on the web. Had a bunch of clients who gave me horror stories when they booked on it. Main thing to be aware of, is the cancellation charges should you change your mind, and extra charges that aren’t added on until you gave them your credit card.
Also, if you make a mistake or need to talk to someone…..good luck!
